A stay at Ololo isn’t just about game drives, it’s about the little adventures that fill each day, especially for children. From hands-on farm experiences to magical wildlife encounters, there’s always something new to discover. Here are some of the family favourites.
Exploring the Farm
Children love joining our gardeners to pick vegetables, dig in the soil, and gather herbs that will later appear on the dinner table. Feeding the chickens or collecting warm eggs in the morning is always a hit. The farm is a safe and open space for curious young minds to wander, touch, and learn where food really comes from.
Meeting Baby Elephants
A visit to the David Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage is unforgettable. Kids watch wide-eyed as the young elephants run in for their bottles of milk, slurp it down, then tumble into the mud for a playful splash. It’s a joyful, noisy, messy moment that children talk about long after they’ve left.
Safari in Nairobi National Park
No family adventure is complete without time in the park. Early morning drives are especially thrilling, with giraffe stretching their necks above the treeline, rhino grazing quietly, or a lion pride lounging in the grass.
Glass Blowing at Kitengela Hot Glass
Just across the ridge, the team at Kitengela Hot Glass demonstrate how molten glass becomes vibrant bowls, beads, and sculptures. The fiery glow of the furnace and the swirl of colours are mesmerising for children (and parents too).
Creative Afternoons
Back at Ololo, kids often take a break from adventuring to sit with paints, brushes, and paper. With the park as their backdrop, they create colourful versions of giraffes, zebras, or simply the flowers from our garden. These little masterpieces make wonderful keepsakes.
Simple, Fresh Kids Meals
Mealtimes at Ololo are relaxed and family-friendly. While adults enjoy our farm-to-table dishes, children tuck into favourites like homemade pizza, garden vegetables, and pasta made with fresh herbs. It’s food that feels familiar but always a little special.
Space to Just Be
Sometimes the best activity is no activity at all. Families can sit on the lawn watching the sunset, children can climb the old fig tree or play hide-and-seek in the gardens, and parents can finally put their feet up. Ololo is a place where time slows down, and kids can simply enjoy being kids.
