At Ololo, there is always something happening! With over 50 members of our team, it’s a hive of activity! Here’s a glimpse into a typical day at our lodge, filled with wildlife encounters, farm-fresh meals, and relaxed moments on the edge of Nairobi National Park.
4:30 AM – Our Cows Are Milked
The day starts early at Ololo. Our hardworking farm team begins by milking the cows, ensuring we have fresh milk for breakfast.
5:30 AM – Our Guides Prepare the Safari Vehicle
Our guides get up to prepare the safari vehicles for the day’s adventure. They ensure everything is in place for a smooth and exciting journey into Nairobi National Park.
6:00 AM – Guests Wake Up & Coffee Time
As the sun begins to rise, guests are woken to the smell of freshly brewed coffee and tea. They come down to the lodge’s cozy dining area where our kitchen team has prepared cookies to enjoy with their morning drinks.
6:30 AM – 3-4 Hour Game Drive
Guests head out for a game drive, lasting 3 to 4 hours, into Nairobi National Park. Our guides take them through the park, providing insights into the wildlife and the environment as they search for rhino, giraffes, zebras, and other majestic animals.
7:00 AM – Eggs Are Collected from the Farm
While guests are out exploring, the farm team collects fresh eggs from our free-range chickens to be used for the delicious breakfast awaiting guests upon their return.
8:00 AM – Guests’ Rooms Are Cleaned & Made Up
After the early morning adventure, our housekeeping team prepares the rooms, ensuring everything is neat and welcoming for guests to return to after their morning activities.
9:00 AM – Office Team at Work
Back at the lodge, our office team is busy replying to emails, answering inquiries, and confirming bookings for upcoming guests. It’s a hub of activity as we ensure everything runs smoothly behind the scenes.
9:30 AM – Late Breakfast with a View
Guests return to Ololo, hungry and ready for a late breakfast. They enjoy our freshly prepared dishes while overlooking the beautiful Nairobi National Park, a peaceful spot to reflect on the morning’s safari.
10:00 AM – Salads & Vegetables Are Harvested
Our farm team heads out to harvest fresh vegetables and salads from our organic farm. These will be used to prepare a wholesome and nutritious lunch for our guests.
10:30 AM – Farm Tour
Guests who are interested in experiencing life on the farm are guided on a tour, where they can see firsthand how we grow and produce food sustainably. It’s a chance to interact with our animals and learn more about our farm-to-table philosophy.
11:30 AM – Take a Dip in the Ololo Pool
After the farm tour, guests have the option to unwind with a refreshing swim in the lodge’s pool. It’s the perfect way to cool down before the afternoon activities.
12:30 PM – Lunch Overlooking the Park
Lunch is served on our deck, with sweeping views of Nairobi National Park. Guests enjoy freshly harvested vegetables, farm meats, and other delicious ingredients. The peaceful setting makes it a relaxing way to spend the afternoon.
1:30 PM – Siesta or Relaxation Time
After lunch, guests can choose to take a siesta, lounge by the pool, or relax in our library with a good book. The afternoon is a time for guests to unwind before their next adventure.
2:30 PM – Guided Tour to Kitengela Hot Glass
For those looking for something a bit different, we offer a guided tour to Kitengela Hot Glass, a unique studio where glass art is created using recycled materials. Guests can watch the artisans at work and even purchase a piece to take home.
4:00 PM – Cows Are Milked Again
The day comes full circle as our cows are milked once more. It’s a tranquil part of the day, and guests can even get involved!
4:30 PM – Afternoon Tea & Another Game Drive
Guests gather for a delicious afternoon tea, before heading back out for an afternoon game drive. The light is perfect for spotting wildlife, and the cooler temperatures make for a comfortable ride through the park.
6:00 PM – Sundowners in the Park
As the day winds down, guests enjoy sundowners in the park—drinks enjoyed while watching the stunning sunset over the savannah. It’s a magical moment, with wildlife in the background and the sky changing colors.
7:30 PM – Dinner at Ololo
Guests return to Ololo for a delicious dinner, prepared with ingredients sourced from our farm and local suppliers.
8:30 PM – Fire Place & Glass of Wine
After dinner, guests gather around the fire pit to relax, share stories, and enjoy a glass of their choice. It’s a peaceful way to end a busy and exciting day, surrounded by the sounds of nature.
10:00 PM – Drift Off to Sleep
As the night falls, guests retire to their rooms, where they can drift off to sleep in complete comfort, ready for another day of adventure at Ololo Safari Lodge.
